The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has paid heartfelt tribute to the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on the occasion of his birth anniversary, describing him as a symbol of courage, intellect, and unwavering conviction.

In a commemorative message released today, Obi reflected on Ojukwu’s enduring influence on Nigeria’s history and his lifelong commitment to justice and equality. He noted that Ojukwu was far more than a historical figure — he represented “courage, intellect, dignity, and firm conviction.”

“His life reminds us that leadership is not merely a position — it is a calling, a burden, and, at times, a test of one’s deepest values,” Obi stated.

He urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the ideals Ojukwu stood for, emphasizing the need to build a nation rooted in truth, equity, and humanity — principles the late leader upheld throughout his lifetime.

“As we reflect on his legacy, may we be inspired to build a society grounded in truth, equity, and humanity — ideals he held dear and defended resolutely. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy remain a guiding light for all who believe in justice, honour, and the power of a principled life,” Obi concluded.
