Armed bandits have abducted six farmers in Layin Danauta village, Kuyello Ward, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, plunging the farming community into renewed fear and uncertainty.

According to local sources, the incident occurred on Monday evening as the victims were working on their bean farms. The attackers, said to be in large numbers, stormed the farmlands and whisked the farmers away into the surrounding forest.

A resident who confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters said the abducted individuals were his relatives. He noted that six victims have been identified so far, but the number could rise as several villagers remain unaccounted for.

This latest abduction follows a similar incident just days earlier. On Friday, several traders were kidnapped while travelling to the weekly Layin Danauta market. Their vehicle was intercepted by gunmen at Kwanan Danwandara in Tabani Ward, where all occupants—including the driver and two others on a motorcycle—were taken hostage.

Residents lament that insecurity in Birnin Gwari persists despite repeated appeals for increased military and police presence. Bandit groups continue to terrorize farmers, traders, and commuters, operating with what locals describe as “disturbing impunity.”

Community leaders have once again urged the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to intensify patrols and rescue efforts to safeguard lives and restore confidence among residents in the troubled region.
