The Lagos State Ministry of Establishments and Training has launched a specialised programme aimed at enhancing the public image and credibility of paramilitary agencies across the state.
The training, themed “Public Relations in Enhancing Brand Visibility and Credibility in Lagos State,” targets officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), and Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC). Over 200 officers are participating in the programme, which is currently being held at the Ojodu Resource Centre.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, represented by Mrs. Modupe Animasaun, Director of Training, emphasized that the roles of paramilitary officers extend beyond maintaining law and order. She highlighted the importance of effective communication and public engagement as tools for building credibility and fostering public trust in government institutions.
“Paramilitary officers play a vital role in maintaining law, order and safety across the State. However, their impact goes beyond operational performance; effective communication and public engagement are equally important in building credibility and strengthening the image of government institutions,” Mrs. Abidakun stated.
The initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to ensuring that its paramilitary agencies not only enforce regulations effectively but also project a positive and trustworthy image to the public. By equipping officers with public relations skills, the government aims to enhance transparency, citizen engagement, and overall confidence in its service delivery.
This training forms part of broader efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and foster a Greater Lagos that thrives on professionalism, integrity, and community trust.
