LAGOS, Nigeria — The Lagos State Police Command has assured that justice will be served following the death of a student of Lagos State University (LASU) in a recent road accident, with authorities confirming that the suspect involved will be charged to court on Monday for prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, alongside senior officers of the Command, visited the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment and also met with representatives of the Students’ Union of Lagos State University to brief them on ongoing investigations and the next steps being taken by law enforcement.
During the engagement, the police commissioner commended students for what he described as their calm, orderly, and responsible conduct in the aftermath of the tragedy, noting that their response helped prevent further tension at a time of grief within the university community. He assured them that the case would be handled with transparency and due process, emphasizing that the suspect linked to the incident would face prosecution in court without delay.
Police authorities stated that the Command remains committed to ensuring accountability and upholding public safety, particularly in cases involving loss of life.
