Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has paid a glowing tribute to fathers across Nigeria, describing them as unsung heroes whose sacrifices, resilience and dedication remain the foundation of strong families and stable societies. In a goodwill message issued on Sunday, June 21, 2026, to mark Father’s Day, the lawmaker celebrated fathers and father figures for their invaluable contributions to raising children and strengthening communities, noting that their efforts often go unnoticed despite the significant responsibilities they shoulder .

“On this special Father’s Day, I celebrate all fathers and father figures whose steadfast commitment, love, and sacrifices continue to strengthen our families and communities,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said. “Fathers are truly the unsung heroes of our society. Their tireless efforts, resilience, and devotion deserve our deepest appreciation” .

Against the backdrop of economic challenges facing many Nigerian households, the senator said fathers continue to play vital roles as providers, protectors, mentors and sources of guidance for their families . She stressed that responsible fatherhood remains essential to nation‑building, arguing that the values fathers instil in their children help shape future generations and contribute to the emergence of a peaceful and prosperous society .

“A father’s wisdom, discipline and example leave a lasting impact on the lives of children. Through their sacrifices and guidance, fathers nurture dreams, build character, and inspire hope. Their influence extends beyond the home and contributes significantly to the moral fabric of our society,” she said .

The senator urged fathers to remain steadfast in their responsibilities despite prevailing challenges and to continue providing positive leadership within their families and communities . She also encouraged young people to embrace virtues such as integrity, hard work, humility and compassion, saying such values are necessary for personal growth and national development . She further called on families, communities and the wider society to recognise and celebrate the contributions of fathers, emphasising that strong homes remain the foundation upon which national progress is built .

“Today, I salute every father in Kogi Central, Kogi State and across Nigeria. Your sacrifices may not always receive public recognition, but they are deeply appreciated. Thank you for the countless ways you provide for, protect, mentor, and support your families. May God reward your labour abundantly,” she said . She prayed for God’s continued blessings, good health, wisdom, strength, and prosperity for fathers across the country .
