Residents of Tafkin Kanu community in Makuwana Ward of Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State have reported an attack by armed bandits, during which several residents were abducted and livestock belonging to community members were taken.
The incident occurred on June 21, 2026, after residents reported seeing a group of bandits travelling on about 30 motorcycles from the Magira area of Sabon Birni Local Government Area toward the Gatawa–Kullah axis, with the movement reportedly extending toward areas close to the Basira axis near the Niger Republic border.
According to residents, the armed men later arrived at Tafkin Kanu community shortly after rainfall and carried out the attack. Community members said the attackers moved into the area and abducted several residents during the operation.
