The left-footed attacker, who has previously received a Super Eagles invitation, joins the Pride of Rivers ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Dabai underwent his medical examination on Monday, June 22, and subsequently put pen to paper on the deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2028/29 season. The signing is part of Rivers United's efforts to strengthen their squad for the upcoming domestic and continental competitions, as the club aims to build on its recent successes and challenge for major honours.
The winger's contract includes a monthly salary of ₦800,000, a ₦3 million sign-on fee, and an ₦80,000 match bonus, according to sources familiar with the deal. Dabai impressed during his time with Niger Tornadoes, where his performances earned him a call-up to the Nigeria national team, making him a highly sought-after prospect in the Nigerian football scene.
Rivers United finished second in the 2025/26 NPFL season behind champions Enugu Rangers and secured qualification for the CAF Champions League. The club's management has been active in the transfer market, with Dabai's signing expected to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for the new season. The club has also tied down key players, including star striker Andy Okpe, who signed a new two-year deal, and defender Anthony Ogwuche, who penned a contract extension.
The NPFL season officially commenced on June 21, 2026, with Rivers United starting their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Lobi Stars in Makurdi, with Uche Okafor scoring the equaliser. The signing of Dabai adds depth and quality to the squad as they prepare for a busy season ahead.
