The Ogun State Police Command has recovered the missing Lexus RX300 belonging to retired broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku, who was found murdered alongside her security guard over the weekend at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of the state. The vehicle, which had been reported missing from the premises immediately after the attack, was retrieved by police operatives during a night operation. Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that the Lexus has since been secured as a critical exhibit in the ongoing investigation, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.

The gruesome incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday when assailants gained entry into the broadcaster’s residence in the Agodo community along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area. A resident raised an alarm over suspicious activities at the premises, prompting detectives from the Owode Egba Division to respond. Upon arrival, officers discovered signs of forced entry and disturbance throughout the residence. The body of the security guard was found inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s corpse was later discovered inside her apartment. The 67-year-old broadcaster, a former staff member of the state-owned Ogun State Television, was widely respected for her contributions to journalism in the region.

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni personally visited the scene on Monday for an on-the-spot assessment, where he inspected the premises and received detailed briefings from detectives handling the case. During the visit, Ojajuni reiterated the command’s resolve to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the deaths and ensuring that those responsible are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice. The police chief also commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured residents that all available resources, including intelligence and surveillance assets, were being deployed to track down the perpetrators.

The recovery of the Lexus RX300 is considered a crucial development, as investigators believe the assailants fled with the vehicle after the attack. Police have confirmed that the vehicle was retrieved during nighttime operations, though details regarding the location of the recovery and whether any arrests have been made remain undisclosed as investigations continue. The command has assured the public that significant progress is being made and that further developments will be communicated as the investigation unfolds.

Oyesiku’s death has sent shockwaves through the media community and the wider Ogun State public, with many calling for a swift and thorough investigation into the tragedy. Colleagues and former associates have described her as a dedicated professional who served the state-owned television with distinction over many years. The brutal nature of the attack, which claimed two lives in a single residence, has also raised concerns about security in the Owode-Egba area and prompted demands for enhanced police presence in the community.

As the investigation enters a critical phase, the Ogun State Police Command has urged members of the public with any useful information to come forward. The recovery of the stolen vehicle represents a significant step forward, but the primary goal remains the apprehension of those who carried out the killings. With the Lexus now secured as evidence and forensic examinations likely underway, authorities are hopeful that the vehicle will yield crucial leads that could bring the perpetrators closer to justice.
