The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage affecting several communities in Delta State as it undertakes critical maintenance work at the Delta 132/33kV Transmission Substation. The exercise, which involves the installation of a 132kV bus coupler circuit breaker and the rehabilitation of five isolators on the main bus bar, will take place daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting from Thursday, July 2, through Saturday, July 4, 2026.

During the three-day maintenance period, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity for onward distribution to customers in several areas. Affected locations include Effurun, Warri, Sapele, Osubi, PTI, PMSL, Enerhen, Refinery I, and Refinery II.

In addition, the 33kV feeders supplied from the Delta substation will be out of service for the duration of the maintenance, affecting Isoko/Kwale, Otovwodo/Patani, Ughelli/Shell, Agbarho/Eku, Aladja, Imoniyame, and Beta Glass.

TCN has assured the public that power supply will be restored daily by 5:00 p.m. at the close of each day's work. The company apologised for any inconvenience the exercise will cause electricity consumers in the affected areas and emphasised its commitment to maintaining a reliable transmission network.

The maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the power infrastructure in the Delta region. While the outage will cause temporary disruption, the upgrades are expected to improve the stability and efficiency of electricity supply in the long run. Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements as the scheduled maintenance begins.
