The Yobe State Police Command has recorded a significant operational success with the rescue of four teenage girls who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Fika Local Government Area of the state. The victims, aged between 15 and 17 years, were rescued unhurt through a coordinated operation involving police operatives and local vigilantes, according to a statement issued by the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 28, 2026, at about 2:23 p.m., when unidentified gunmen attacked Didim Village in Fika LGA and abducted four young females. The Fika Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call reporting that unidentified persons had attacked and abducted the girls. Upon receiving the report, police operatives attached to Kukar Gadu Outstation, in collaboration with local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised and launched a rescue operation. Reinforcement from the Division was deployed, leading to the successful rescue of all four victims unhurt.
The rescued victims were immediately taken to Kukar Gadu Primary Health Care Centre for medical examination and necessary support before being reunited with their families. The Command said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the criminal syndicate responsible for the attack, as it intensifies operations to bring them to justice.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has directed sustained and intelligence-led operations to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and made to face the full weight of the law. The CP further reiterated the Command's unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide the police with credible and timely information on suspicious persons, movements, or vehicles.
