The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reminded media organisations intending to cover the Osun State Governorship Election, scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, that online accreditation is currently ongoing.
In a notice released today by the Commission, media practitioners are required to complete their applications through the official accreditation portal at imap.inecnigeria.org. The portal is set to close at midnight on Sunday, August 2, 2026. INEC has warned that no late submissions will be accepted, and the portal will automatically shut down at the deadline with no extension of time.
Media organisations are encouraged to complete their applications before the deadline to avoid disqualification. For enquiries, the Commission has provided contact numbers: 07088844564 and 08032861058.
The Osun State governorship election is one of the most anticipated off-cycle polls in 2026, with the All Progressives Congress (APC), Accord Party, and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) among the parties fielding candidates. The election is expected to be fiercely contested, with security and voter accreditation processes under close scrutiny.
INEC has assured the public of its commitment to a transparent and credible electoral process, with the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) across all 30 local government areas of the state.
