The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspects and recovered a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and illicit substances during a massive coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the state. The operation, conducted at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, was part of the ongoing Operation KO S'AYE III, a sustained security campaign aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements from identified black spots across Lagos.
According to a press release issued by the command's Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the raid was carried out by a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the command, acting on credible intelligence. The operation targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo, and other identified black spots in the state. During the operation, a total of 147 suspects were arrested. Exhibits recovered included 250 expended cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, one lighter, one pair of scissors, assorted charms, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to duty. He reaffirmed the command's unwavering commitment to the continued implementation of Operation KO S'AYE III, stressing that the operation will be sustained across the state to deny criminals any safe haven and ensure the safety and security of all residents. CP Fatai also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information that will assist the police in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders, and enhancing public safety across Lagos State.
All the suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine their individual culpability. Those found to have committed criminal offences will be prosecuted accordingly. The Lagos State Police Command has appealed to residents to use the provided emergency contact numbers to share credible information with the police to enhance public safety.
