Troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside Hybrid Forces, have arrested five suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and intercepted a large consignment of concealed medical and veterinary supplies during a security operation in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State. The operation, conducted at about 1:30 p.m. on July 20, 2026, targeted a suspected logistics network believed to be supporting terrorist activities in the North-East. The suspects were identified as Mustapha Bukar, 47; Modio Mohammed, 44; Sale Usman, 21; Abubakar Makita, 19; and Abubakar Mohammed, 19.
According to military authorities, the suspects were intercepted while transporting 491 cartons of Albe Stark 2.5 per cent dewormer and 100 cartons of multivitamin injections for animals without the requisite waybill or supporting documentation. A thorough search of the vehicles further uncovered concealed medical supplies that included 32 cartons of Diclofenac Sodium Injection, 58 cartons of Benzylpenicillin Sodium BP, six cartons of Dexamethasone Injection, and 51 cartons of Metronidazole Intravenous Infusion. Troops also recovered 30 units of 80-inch LG plasma televisions, 152 empty Bagco sacks, and seven mobile phones.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment was being couriered to a vendor in N'Djamena, Chad Republic. However, part of the concealed medical supplies was to be trans-loaded into another truck near the Nigeria–Chad border in an apparent attempt to evade security checks and conceal the movement of the consignment. The items were being conveyed in a blue Mandizer truck with registration number SUL 969 XA and a white HOWO truck bearing registration number 09B280BO, reportedly owned by the Borno State Government. The military explained that the interception was a significant breakthrough in Operation HADIN KAI's sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics and support networks across the North-East. "By disrupting suspicious supply chains and intercepting materials before they reach their intended destination, troops continue to deny terrorist elements the resources required to sustain their activities, thereby degrading their operational capability and restricting their freedom of action," the military said.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the 24 Task Force Brigade for further investigation, while the two trucks have been impounded. Investigations are ongoing to determine the intended recipients of the consignments and establish any links between the suspects and terrorist logistics networks operating in the North-East. Operation HADIN KAI has also issued a stern warning to pharmaceutical distributors, transporters, healthcare providers, humanitarian organisations, and other stakeholders to ensure that all bulk medical, pharmaceutical, and agrochemical consignments are properly documented and, where necessary, coordinated with the appropriate military authorities before movement within the North-East Theatre. "The measure is intended to facilitate legitimate commercial and humanitarian activities while preventing the exploitation of supply chains by terrorist elements," the military said.
The military also reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and dismantling all networks that directly or indirectly support terrorist activities and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies. "Such cooperation remains vital to disrupting terrorist logistics networks, supporting ongoing military operations, and consolidating lasting peace, security, and stability across the North East," the statement concluded. The successful operation sends a clear message that all supply routes and networks supporting terrorist activities in the region are under constant surveillance and will be disrupted as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. As security agencies intensify operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP in the North-East, the military has warned that the era of using the region as a safe haven for criminal enterprises is over.
