The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), David Oyedepo, has issued a blistering ultimatum to both the federal government and the criminal networks terrorising Nigeria, declaring that he will no longer pray for the killers of innocent citizens but will instead invoke divine vengeance against them and their households. In an impassioned address delivered during a church service over the weekend of August 1-2, 2026, the respected cleric warned that public patience with government inaction had reached a breaking point, cautioning that "the bubble is about to burst" if urgent steps are not taken to halt the escalating bloodshed across the country.
Oyedepo's remarks come in the wake of the devastating attack on Naridon village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where gunmen reportedly killed at least 30 people, including women and children, on July 27, 2026. The massacre, which left entire families wiped out and homes set ablaze, has reignited national outrage over the persistent insecurity that has plagued the North-West and other parts of the country. Addressing congregants, the founder of Winners Chapel condemned the hypocrisy of expecting spiritual cover or prayers for elements perpetrating violence against innocent families. "You can't slaughter members of my family and expect me to pray for you. I will pray against you and your household," Oyedepo declared, departing from passive prayers to declare intense spiritual warfare and imprecatory prayers against terrorists, bandits, and their sponsors.
The cleric also launched a scathing attack on the administration of President Bola Tinubu, accusing the government of pretending to be helpless in the face of ongoing atrocities. "The government is pretending like they don't know what to do," Oyedepo fumed, questioning the silence of authorities over the killings and asking whether human lives no longer held any value. "I have been quiet for a long time, but the bubble is about to burst," he warned. The attack on Naridon village was not an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern of violence that has seen armed groups raid communities, abduct residents, and kill indiscriminately across the North-West and North-Central regions. The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has condemned the massacre and called on the Kaduna State Police Command to strengthen security, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described the attack as "heartbreaking and unacceptable".
