Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified their offensive against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno and Yobe states, arresting 15 suspected collaborators and neutralising several terrorists within the last 24 hours. The latest operations, which took place on August 29 and 30, 2026, underscore the military's sustained campaign to dismantle terrorist networks across Nigeria's North-East region.
According to an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, August 30, 11 suspected terrorists and collaborators were apprehended in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State. The suspects included eight collaborators, two couriers or spies, and one suspected terrorist. In a separate operation, troops of 159 Battalion arrested three suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers in Geidam, Yobe State, during a curfew operation. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly purchased petroleum products and other logistics for terrorists operating around the Gorom-Damasak axis. Troops recovered two mobile phones, a national identity card, and ₦185,950 from the suspects.
The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI also conducted precision strikes, neutralising four ISWAP terrorists around a terrorist enclave in the Sambisa axis. The strike followed the sighting of three terrorists entering a structure while another parked a motorcycle nearby. The airstrike destroyed the building and the motorcycle, along with the four terrorists.
In another development, troops intercepted two internally displaced minors along the Wala-Gwoza-Pulka Road in Gwoza Local Government Area on August 29. Preliminary investigations indicated that the minors were from Chikide community in the Mandara Mountains. Additionally, troops received the surrender of a suspected female ISWAP member and her two children at Mafa in Borno State. The woman reportedly fled the Burari terrorist enclave with her children following violent clashes between rival terrorist factions.
Troops also repelled an ISWAP attack on troops of 212 Battalion deployed at Tungushe in Jere Local Government Area of Borno. Similarly, troops of 115 Task Force Battalion, alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, encountered suspected ISWAP terrorists at Rumirigo in Askira-Uba Local Government Area. The terrorists fled the encounter, while troops recovered a pistol and seven rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The intensified operations reflect the military's determination to sustain pressure on ISWAP and other terrorist groups operating in the North-East. By arresting logistics suppliers, collaborators, and couriers, troops are systematically dismantling the support networks that sustain terrorist activities. The surrender of a female ISWAP member and her children also signals growing internal fractures within the terrorist group, as rival factions clash and fighters abandon their enclaves. The military's coordinated ground and air operations have dealt significant blows to ISWAP's operational capacity, disrupting their supply lines, eliminating key fighters, and creating conditions for further surrenders. These successes come as troops continue to receive actionable intelligence and maintain aggressive patrols across the region.
