The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has taken delivery of three complete sets of dialysis machines donated by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, in a significant intervention that will substantially strengthen renal care services at the tertiary health institution. The equipment, presented through His Love Foundation (HLF), the RCCG's official global Christian Social Responsibility arm, was formally handed over to the hospital management in Benin City on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Receiving the machines, UBTH Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, expressed profound gratitude to the Adeboyes, describing the donation as a significant contribution that would complement government investments in the healthcare sector. She noted that the advanced equipment would enhance the hospital's capacity to provide critical dialysis services to patients suffering from kidney-related conditions while improving access to life-saving treatment. "This donation will complement government's efforts and investments in the health sector, particularly in the area of specialised treatment for patients with kidney-related conditions," Prof. Ize-Iyamu stated.
The medical supplies donated include the Nefro 4000 A HD Machine, Nefro Dialyzer 1.8M2, Nefro Universal Bloodline, Nefro Bicarbonate Cartridge, Nefro Acid Concentrate, and Nefro Dialysis Fluid Filter. Presenting the equipment on behalf of His Love Foundation, Pastor Bode Olojede disclosed that the donation was personally made by Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his wife as part of their unwavering commitment to supporting healthcare interventions across Nigeria. He added that HLF remains dedicated to addressing hunger, health, education, rehabilitation, prison ministry, and social enterprise, while the RCCG General Overseer and his wife have been supporting national intervention programmes, including building intensive care units and numerous Enoch and Folu Adeboye dialysis centres across various teaching hospitals and general medical centres in the country.
Also speaking at the handover ceremony, the Federal Commissioner representing Edo State on the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Victor Edoror, commended Pastor Enoch Adeboye for his significant donation in support of individuals with renal challenges. Edoror, who joined the CMD to receive the medical supplies, emphasized that government cannot tackle these challenges alone and urged other General Overseers across the country to emulate the philanthropic example. He expressed profound gratitude and prayed for continued good health and long life for Pastor Adeboye and his wife for their compassionate remembrance of vulnerable patients.
The donation comes just 48 hours after UBTH took delivery of a state-of-the-art ambulance from the Federal Government, marking a week of significant infrastructural boosts for the teaching hospital. It also extends the Adeboyes' longstanding tradition of healthcare philanthropy across Nigeria. Through His Love Foundation, the couple has previously established dialysis centres at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi, the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Sagamu, and the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa, among others. Each of these centres is typically equipped with three dialysis machines, a medical water reverse osmosis purification system, and a dedicated generator to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
For patients at UBTH who require regular dialysis treatment, the new equipment offers renewed hope and significantly reduces the burden on the hospital's existing renal care infrastructure. Kidney disease remains a major public health challenge in Nigeria, with the high cost of dialysis treatment placing enormous financial strain on patients and their families. The Federal Government has previously subsidised renal dialysis treatment at UBTH and other federal hospitals, but the demand for services continues to outpace available resources. The Adeboyes' donation directly addresses this gap, providing state-of-the-art equipment that will enable the hospital to serve more patients and improve the quality of care. As Prof. Ize-Iyamu noted, the gesture will complement government investments and strengthen the hospital's capacity to provide critical dialysis services. For the thousands of Nigerians who depend on UBTH for kidney care, this donation represents not just equipment, but a lifeline.
