A joint security operation under the Safer Highway Patrol has led to the arrest of a Nigerian Navy officer and his driver, along with the seizure of a large consignment of cannabis suspected to be Scottish Loud, in a major breakthrough against drug trafficking on the East-West Road. According to a statement from the Safer Highway Patrol, Dickson was contracted by one Lieutenant James Emmanuel, a 30-year-old officer of the Nigerian Navy, to convey five Ghana Must Go bags containing 248 molds of cannabis suspected to be Scottish Loud from Lagos to Port Harcourt for supply to users. Upon interrogation, the driver reportedly claimed ownership of the vehicle and the exhibits. Both suspects, along with the vehicle and the recovered drugs, have been handed over to the Commander of the Violent Crime Response Unit for discreet investigation.
The seizure of 248 molds of cannabis represents a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating along the East-West Road, a major corridor connecting Lagos to Port Harcourt.
