The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate that had been terrorising residents of Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state. The arrest, which followed an intelligence-led operation by the Command's Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), led to the recovery of a significant haul of stolen items, including 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, gold jewellery, and three cutlasses.
The suspects, identified as Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24, were arrested at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, following sustained intelligence gathering. During a search of the premises, operatives recovered the items, which are believed to have been stolen from victims in the Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas. The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation. Efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the gang who may be connected to the criminal activities.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives of the VCRU for their swift response, intelligence-led investigation, and successful arrest of the suspects. He reaffirmed the Command's commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state and ensuring the safety and security of residents. CP Fatai urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police through the command's emergency lines. The arrest is a significant breakthrough in the fight against armed robbery and other violent crimes in Lagos State, and the police have assured residents that they will continue to sustain the momentum of their operations.
