The younger brother of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) 2027 senatorial candidate for Bauchi South, Shehu Aliyu Musa, has reportedly lost his three children to flooding in Abuja.
The children, identified as Maryam, Umar and Hanifah, were reportedly swept away by floodwaters four days before the report was published on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
According to reports, the PRP Bauchi State chapter said the body of Umar, the male child, had been recovered, while the bodies of Maryam and Hanifah had not been found as of October 4.
The children’s father, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Musa, is the younger brother of Shehu Aliyu Musa, who is contesting the Bauchi South senatorial seat on the platform of the PRP in the 2027 general elections.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed condolences to the bereaved family over the tragedy.
In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor described the loss of the three children as devastating and painful.
The governor extended his sympathy to Abubakar Aliyu Musa, his family and the wider family of Shehu Aliyu Musa, praying for strength and fortitude for them to bear the loss.
The PRP Bauchi State chapter also expressed condolences to the family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the children.
The tragedy comes amid renewed concerns over the impact of flooding in parts of Abuja and other parts of the country during the rainy season.
