The Enugu State Forest Guard has reportedly foiled a planned kidnapping involving a suspected interstate criminal syndicate allegedly operating from Nasarawa State with the assistance of local informants.

According to reports published on Friday, October 9, 2026, the operation followed the detection of suspicious movements by surveillance cameras, which reportedly alerted security personnel and enabled the Forest Guard to move in before the planned abduction could be carried out.

The operatives allegedly encountered the suspects and exchanged gunfire with them. One suspected member of the syndicate was reportedly killed during the encounter, while other suspects, including alleged local collaborators, were arrested.

The reports further stated that the arrested suspects were handed over to the police for interrogation as investigators seek to establish the extent of the alleged network and identify other possible accomplices.

However, details of the operation, including the exact location, the number of suspects arrested and any items recovered, could not be independently confirmed through an official statement at the time of reporting.
