The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has coordinated the distribution of relief materials to residents affected by banditry and flooding in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The exercise took place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the residence of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi in Egbe, with the aim of supporting affected households and other vulnerable residents facing humanitarian challenges.

The intervention is expected to provide assistance to families whose livelihoods, homes and economic activities have been disrupted by insecurity and flooding in the area.

Yagba West, like other rural communities, faces challenges associated with the impact of flooding on settlements and agricultural activities, while security concerns have also heightened the vulnerability of some residents.

The distribution exercise forms part of efforts to provide immediate relief to affected people and help households cope with the consequences of emergencies.

NEMA is responsible for coordinating disaster management and emergency response in Nigeria, including the delivery of humanitarian assistance to communities affected by natural disasters and other emergencies.

The exercise in Egbe also highlights the role of collaboration between federal agencies, elected representatives, community leaders and other stakeholders in responding to the needs of vulnerable populations.

However, details of the specific relief items distributed, the number of beneficiaries reached and the total value of the intervention were not provided in the information available for this report.

Continued humanitarian support, alongside effective flood management and improved security, remains important to helping affected communities recover and strengthen their resilience against future emergencies.
