
The North-East Governors were on Friday night treated to a vibrant evening of culture and camaraderie in Jalingo, Taraba State, ahead of the 12th North-East Governors’ Forum meeting scheduled for Saturday.
The event, hosted by Governor Agbu Kefas at the Government House banquet hall, featured colourful cultural displays, music, and performances by traditional and contemporary groups from Taraba and other states across the North-East.
In his welcome address, Governor Kefas underscored the importance of regional solidarity, noting that unity and a strong bond of brotherhood are vital in addressing the common challenges confronting the sub-region. He added that the Forum serves as a platform for governors to design strategies that will foster peace, development, and prosperity.
Chairman of the North-East Governors’ Forum and Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, who delivered the vote of thanks, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Kefas and the people of Taraba State for their hospitality and warm reception.
Governor Zulum noted that the evening’s cultural celebration set the tone for a productive session, where the governors are expected to deliberate on strengthening regional unity while tackling pressing issues such as insecurity, poverty, and infrastructure gaps.
The 12th North-East Governors’ Forum Meeting is scheduled to hold on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Taraba State Government House.
