The Delta State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Local Government Affairs, has commended Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, Chairman of Warri South Local Government, for his people-focused projects that are reshaping communities and boosting local development.
During a working visit, the committee, chaired by Hon. Dafe Chukudi, conducted an oversight tour of critical projects, witnessing both completed and ongoing initiatives that are addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps and socio-economic challenges in Warri South. Market reconstructions, modern road networks, upgraded abattoirs, cold storage facilities, and bridge construction were among the initiatives observed, reflecting a holistic approach to improving commerce, mobility, and public service delivery.
The projects not only provide essential services but also stimulate economic activity, create employment opportunities, and enhance the quality of life for residents. Roads and bridges improve connectivity, facilitating trade and access to markets, while modernized abattoirs and cold storage units support food safety, agricultural productivity, and youth engagement in commercial ventures.
Hon. Chukudi praised the council chairman’s grassroots presence, noting that the tangible impact of these initiatives is visible to residents across the communities. “I am pleased at the kind of projects I have seen here today; they are people-oriented,” he said, emphasizing the importance of responsive and participatory governance.
Hon. Agbateyiniro presented detailed documentation of over 59 completed and ongoing projects, along with the 2024 Supplementary Budget and the 2025 Budget, signaling a deliberate strategy of consolidating achievements while planning for sustainable development. The presentation underscores the council’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and long-term planning in local governance.
Observers note that the success of these initiatives highlights the value of strong leadership, community engagement, and strategic budgeting in addressing developmental gaps. By integrating infrastructure improvements with socio-economic interventions, Warri South is witnessing a transformation that promises lasting benefits for residents, particularly in commerce, mobility, and public welfare.
The Assembly Committee reaffirmed its support for the council’s continued efforts, stressing the importance of maintaining momentum and ensuring that development initiatives are inclusive, sustainable, and capable of fostering broad-based growth across the region.
