The Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has once again demonstrated his commitment to public health by approving significant interventions to support the management of diphtheria cases in the state.

According to the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, the Governor’s initiatives include the regular supply of essential diphtheria medications, provision of daily meals for the 57 patients currently receiving care, and the payment of stipends to doctors and nurses dedicated to treating the patients.

The gesture reflects Governor Yusuf’s ongoing dedication to strengthening Kano State’s healthcare system and ensuring that both patients and medical personnel are supported during critical health challenges.

The State Hospitals Management Board also acknowledged the efforts of Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, and the Executive Secretary of the Board, who have worked tirelessly to maintain quality healthcare services in the state. Special commendation was also extended to health workers, who, despite the contagious nature of diphtheria, continue to provide selfless and courageous service to patients.

Samira Suleiman, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized that these combined efforts underscore the state government’s unwavering focus on public health, patient welfare, and support for frontline medical professionals.

The initiative not only highlights proactive governance in Kano State but also serves as a model for community-centered healthcare, demonstrating how leadership, planning, and support can save lives and empower health workers during critical outbreaks.
