In a strategic initiative to boost Plateau State’s tourism, culture, and creative economy, Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang held a high-level meeting with the Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa, in Brasília, Brazil, during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit.
The discussions focused on fostering strong collaboration between the Federal Ministry and Plateau State to drive cultural preservation, creative industry growth, and economic diversification. Governor Mutfwang outlined plans to make Plateau a premier destination for cultural tourism and creative enterprise, including the resuscitation of the Plateau State Tourism Master Plan, revitalization of heritage sites, creation of a Tourism Free Trade Zone, renewal of the Jos Wildlife Park, and domestication of a Creative Industry Development Plan.
The Governor expressed gratitude for the Minister’s support and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to leveraging Plateau’s rich cultural heritage and talent to generate jobs, attract investment, and grow tourism. The Minister commended the proactive approach, pledging federal support and resources to strengthen Plateau’s creative ecosystem and heritage infrastructure. She also indicated plans to formalize agreements with the State Government to achieve these shared objectives.
Highlighting Plateau’s rising international profile, the State’s Cultural Troupe has been invited to perform at the prestigious Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The troupe is one of only two selected from across Africa, underscoring the state’s cultural prominence under Governor Mutfwang’s leadership.
