Northern Governors Mourn Passing of Former Customs Chief Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha

Northern Governors have expressed profound sorrow over the death of former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha (Sardaunan Adamawa), who passed away at the age of 76.

The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, described the late Mustapha as a distinguished public servant, elder statesman, and patriot who made significant contributions to national development, particularly through his leadership in the Nigeria Customs Service.

Governor Yahaya noted that Alhaji Mustapha, a respected prince and traditional titleholder, lived a life defined by discipline, integrity, and commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria. “His passing is a great loss not only to Adamawa State but to the entire Northern region and the nation. He served Nigeria diligently and left a legacy of excellence and honor,” he said.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late Mustapha, the Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, the Adamawa Emirate Council, and the government and people of Adamawa State, praying for Allah’s mercy and granting the deceased Aljannat Firdaus.
