Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to unlocking the socio-economic potential of the country’s geo-heritage sites.
He made the statement on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa by the UNESCO International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme (IGGP) Nigeria National Committee (NNC), led by its Chairman, Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Isyaku.
In his remarks, VP Shettima emphasized that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains open to collaboration with relevant stakeholders, especially subnational governments, to promote sustainable development through Nigeria’s geoscience and geo-tourism assets.
He highlighted the government’s efforts to reshape national development across multiple sectors—including social, economic, cultural, sports, agriculture, education, and international diplomacy—underscoring a broader commitment to progress and innovation.
Dr. Isyaku and his delegation expressed optimism that closer collaboration with the Federal Government would help advance UNESCO’s geoscience initiatives in Nigeria and unlock the full potential of the country’s unique geo-heritage sites.
