The Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) following a courtesy visit by the Service’s Zonal Command for Borno and Yobe States.

The Permanent Secretary, Aminu Chamalwa Barde, received the delegation on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, Prof. Usman A. Tar, assuring that their requests would be conveyed to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for appropriate action. Barde described the Correctional Service as a critical allied partner in the state’s security framework and pledged the Ministry’s full cooperation in supporting federal security operations across Borno.

Leading the delegation, Assistant Controller General (ACG) Adamu Yahaya, the newly appointed Zonal Coordinator of Zone R, expressed gratitude for the warm reception. He highlighted that Zone R, carved out of Zone C in 2019, covers Borno and Yobe States and acknowledged early challenges such as office space and accommodation, while affirming his commitment to consolidating the new zonal headquarters.

ACG Yahaya stated, “I am proud to return home as the pioneer Zonal Coordinator of Zone R. Despite challenges of infrastructure, I remain committed to strengthening the Correctional Service presence in Borno and Yobe States.”

Both parties emphasized their shared responsibility in promoting peace, security, and good governance in Borno State, highlighting the importance of collaboration between state and federal security agencies.
