INEC FCT HITS THE ROAD TO ENGAGE NIGERIANS ON CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), embarked on a public sensitization roadshow on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, to raise awareness about the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and its devolution to the 62 Electoral Wards across the FCT.

The roadshow was officially declared open by the Administrative Secretary, INEC-FCT, Mrs. Bimbo Oladunjoye, who represented the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Malam Aminu Kasimu Idris. The exercise aimed to mobilize prospective registrants to actively participate in the CVR and ensure wider voter inclusion.

The outreach provided INEC-FCT the opportunity to directly interface with the public, educating citizens on the devolution of the CVR to electoral wards, the collection and transfer of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), updating voter information, and the replacement of lost or damaged PVCs. Participants were also informed about key timelines for the ongoing exercise.

To ensure effective engagement, the sensitization team covered strategic locations across the FCT, using multiple local languages to communicate with traders, commuters, and members of the general public. Flyers were distributed to reinforce the messages and promote inclusive voter information dissemination.

The CVR roadshow, formally concluded by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, underscored INEC-FCT’s commitment to deepening voter and citizen engagement, enhancing democratic practices, and ensuring the success of electoral processes in Nigeria’s capital territory.
