In a major effort to combat drug-related crimes and curb violence, troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) have raided a suspected criminal hideout at Layin Sabon Kasuwa in Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State.
During the operation, 25 suspected drug peddlers were apprehended in possession of various substances suspected to include Cannabis Sativa and other illicit drugs. The arrested suspects and recovered items are currently in custody and are slated to be handed over to relevant agencies for possible prosecution.
According to Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, the troops will continue to address crimes that fuel violent activities in the Joint Operations Area (JOA). He emphasized that the Command works closely with relevant government agencies to tackle social vices and prosecute offenders, aiming to achieve a safer and more secure society.
The operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the JTF and Nigerian security forces to maintaining law and order, while addressing the root causes of violence linked to drug trafficking in Plateau State.
