Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged citizens to rise above divisions, embrace forgiveness, and work together for the common good. Addressing congregants at the 38th Anniversary of the State’s Creation Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, Governor Eno commended past leaders for their contributions to the State’s growth and development while calling on all residents to join hands in building a stronger and more united Akwa Ibom.
Emphasizing the need for unity, Governor Eno said the people must avoid a fighting spirit and cultivate love, stressing, “we have no other State outside Akwa Ibom.” He encouraged citizens to display patriotism, plan collectively for the common good, and participate in voter registration as a civic responsibility. The Governor also called on the public to ARISE to the Renewed Hope Agenda and pledged continued support for initiatives benefiting the State.
In his address, Governor Eno further urged support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and himself in 2027, while instructing the Management of the International Christian Worship Centre to maintain and complete outstanding works. He also announced a Unity Concert scheduled for December 5, 2025, as part of the anniversary celebrations.
Delivering the homily, Archbishop Emmah Isong reinforced the message of unity and respect for authority, warning that “pulling down the head can only bring down the structure. There can only be one head at a time.” Goodwill messages were delivered by Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Senator Ekong Sampson representing the National Assembly Caucus, Bishop Dr. Christian Nyong of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas) Obong Emem Ekperikpe Ekpo, and Prelate Isaiah Isong, all of whom praised Governor Eno’s leadership and contributions to the State.
The thanksgiving service was attended by former governors, deputy governors, a former minister, and other prominent citizens, all joining in prayer and celebration of Akwa Ibom’s progress under Governor Eno’s administration.
