Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has commissioned a fleet of military vehicles and patrol gunboats worth billions of naira to boost the fight against insecurity across the state.

The new equipment includes four patrol gunboats, four mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, and four Toyota armoured gun trucks, among others. Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Kefas said the investment underscores his administration’s resolve to eradicate insecurity by strengthening intelligence networks and securing the state’s airspace, waterways, and communities.

He assured that security agencies and stakeholders will continue to receive support to sustain peace and attract investment into Taraba. Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, also noted that since May 2023, the Governor has consistently demonstrated commitment to security through logistics and assistance to security agencies.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena; Chief of Defence Operations, Major General Emeka Onumajuru; the 6 Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa; and other top officials.

Meanwhile, during a courtesy visit by Major General Onumajuru at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, Governor Kefas revealed that Taraba is enjoying relative peace as a result of deliberate security interventions. He added that he has requested the deployment of a drone station to monitor the state’s borders more effectively.

In response, Major General Onumajuru commended the Governor for his unwavering support to the Army, stressing that improved security in Taraba was largely made possible through such collaboration.
