The Benue State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill seeking the establishment of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission in the state. The bill was passed on Monday, September 22, 2025, after scaling its third reading during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga.

The passage followed a recent public hearing at the Assembly complex, which brought together critical stakeholders and sector players to provide insight and feedback on the proposed agency.

With its enactment, the law is expected to regulate both public and private conduct while placing Benue among the states taking bold steps in the fight against corruption.

Appreciating members for their robust contributions to the bill, the Speaker emphasized that the APC-led administration of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is determined to confront corruption head-on. He noted that once assented to, the bill will strengthen accountability, promote justice, and restore public confidence in governance.
