Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI have sustained significant gains in the fight against insurgency, achieving key successes during Operation Desert Sanity IV between 19 and 24 September 2025 in Borno and Adamawa States.
During the week, forces intercepted substantial quantities of smuggled fuel and fertilizer, disrupting terrorist logistics and limiting the production of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). In a series of coordinated operations, troops seized 21 jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across Mubi South and Mubi North in Adamawa State. Large amounts of urea fertilizer were also recovered at Mubi Central Market after suspected suppliers fled the scene, denying insurgents vital resources.
On 22 September, a joint operation by 73 Battalion (Motorised), working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and hybrid forces, resulted in the neutralization of a suspected Boko Haram scout near Alau Dam, Borno State. The following day, troops of 112 Task Force Battalion at Forward Operating Base Ngwom arrested a 54-year-old suspect, Thomas James, attempting to transport fuel to Gamboru Ngala. Investigations link him to terrorist fuel supply chains, and he has been handed over to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade.
Further operations on 24 September saw 232 Battalion, with the support of local hunters, apprehend 31-year-old Ahmadu Buba in Garkida, Gombi LGA. The suspect, who joined Boko Haram in April 2025, confessed to involvement in attacks at Mandaragirau Sabon Gari Kimba and the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge earlier this year.
The Military High Command has commended the troops for their outstanding performance and urged them to maintain the aggressive operational posture and momentum. The week’s successes mark another decisive step in securing communities and curtailing insurgent activities in the North East.
