Kano – The Kano State Police Command has recorded significant successes in crime prevention and law enforcement, including the seizure of Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets worth over N82 million, the arrest of 105 suspects, and the recovery of dangerous weapons and stolen property across the state. The disclosure was made by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, during a press briefing at the Bompai Police Headquarters on Monday, September 29, 2025.

CP Bakori noted that these achievements form part of the Command’s intensified efforts under Operation Kukan Kura, a strategic initiative aimed at tackling all forms of criminal activities in Kano State. The operation, which actively engages the public, leverages intelligence gathering, and incorporates modern technology, has been crucial in disrupting criminal networks and preempting potential threats.

The Commissioner highlighted that in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters alone, Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets worth N82,725,000 were recovered and would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation. He emphasized that such proactive measures are critical in safeguarding the welfare of the people and ensuring a secure environment for all residents.

During September 2025, the Command arrested suspects in 30 major cases, covering armed robbery, illicit drug dealings, motor vehicle and motorcycle theft, thuggery, and other felonious offenses. Exhibits recovered included firearms such as AK-47 rifles, revolvers, locally made pistols, live ammunition, motor vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles, livestock, and various sharp objects used in criminal activities. Other illicit drugs and stolen properties were also recovered during the operations.

CP Bakori praised the support of Kano residents, noting that the cooperation of the public has been instrumental in achieving these results. “The good people of Kano State have played a vital role in our successes. I urge everyone to continue providing credible information to the Police so that we can maintain law and order and secure lives and property across the state,” he said.

The Commissioner further emphasized that Operation Kukan Kura aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, to adopt community-centered proactive crime prevention strategies, particularly ahead of the fourth quarter of the year, which typically sees a spike in criminal activities.

Observers have noted that the Command’s recent successes reflect a growing effectiveness in intelligence-led policing and collaborative community engagement. Security analysts suggest that such measures are critical for fostering public confidence in law enforcement and deterring criminal enterprises. Local residents expressed relief and optimism, stating that visible policing and timely arrests have improved their sense of safety and security in the state.

CP Bakori concluded by reiterating the Kano State Police Command’s commitment to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and preventing crime. He also thanked members of the press for their role in disseminating information to the public and urged continued collaboration between the Police and the community.

The press briefing underscores the Command’s proactive approach to law enforcement, highlighting the integration of technology, intelligence, and community participation in achieving tangible results against crime in Kano State.
