EFCC Arrests 18 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Akwa Ibom

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 18 suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa Ibom State. The operatives of the EFCC's Uyo Zonal Directorate carried out an intelligence-driven sting operation on Thursday, July 31, 2025, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The EFCC operatives swooped in on the suspects at various locations in Akwa Ibom State, including Ikot Ekpene, Nelson Mandela Street, Ikot-Udoro, and Tippa Road. The suspects, aged between 19 and 28 years, were apprehended and taken into custody.

The EFCC recovered several items from the suspects, including three cars, 30 mobile phones, three laptops, and a wristwatch. These items are believed to have been acquired with proceeds of their alleged fraudulent activities.

The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations. The EFCC will work to gather evidence and build a strong case against the suspects, who will face the full weight of the law if found guilty.
