The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) carried out a sting operation at Majesty Estate, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on August 1, 2025. The operation was in response to a distress call by residents concerning the nefarious activities of internet fraudsters in their neighbourhood.

The operation yielded 37 suspected fraudsters. The Commission's operatives visited the apartment of one of the residents that was flagged by the Commission's intelligence. However, the residents refused to open their doors despite the operatives' proper introduction and announcement of their mission.

The Commission denies reports of unprofessional conduct, including a viral video of a broken door and harassment of residents. Many residents appreciated and commended the Commission for making some arrests of suspected internet fraudsters. The EFCC remains committed to upholding sound professional conduct in its operations and will take disciplinary measures against any operative found to be overzealous.

The EFCC's operation at Majesty Estate is part of its efforts to combat internet fraud and other financial crimes. The Commission's commitment to professionalism and effectiveness in its operations is evident in its actions. The EFCC will continue to work to prevent and investigate financial crimes, and bring perpetrators to justice.
