Three brilliant students from Yobe State — Nafisa Abdullah (17), Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), and Hadiza Kashim (16) — have made Nigeria and Africa proud by emerging as world champions at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.

The trio, students of Nigerian Tulip International College, clinched top honours in their respective categories: English Language Skills (Nafisa), Overall Debate (Rukayya), and Productive Skills (Hadiza), defeating over 20,000 participants from 69 countries in one of the world’s most competitive teen academic contests.

In recognition of their extraordinary achievements, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved a grand reception to honour the girls upon their return.

“These young ambassadors have brought great honour to Yobe, to Nigeria, and to Africa at large. Their achievements are a validation of our continued investment in education,” said the Governor, while expressing immense pride in their global triumph.

All three students are beneficiaries of Governor Buni's state-sponsored scholarship programme, which provides full tuition support for 890 students at the Nigerian Tulip International College.

Governor Buni reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing accessible and quality education across Yobe State, noting that over 40,000 students are currently on government scholarships in universities and other institutions in Nigeria and abroad.

“Our government has reconstructed schools destroyed by insurgency, equipped classrooms, provided books and laboratories, and employed qualified teachers to enhance learning. And we’re just getting started,” the Governor added.

He also called on parents to support government efforts by ensuring every child attends school.

This global success comes just months after Yobe State celebrated the graduation of 167 scholarship beneficiaries who completed degrees in medicine, computer science, and engineering from top universities in India — another milestone in the state's education transformation journey.
