The House Committee on Federal Character, led by Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, CON, today engaged in a high-level interactive session with the Acting Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Also present at the session were key members of the Commission’s management team and directors, in a meeting aimed at strengthening oversight, enhancing collaboration, and reinforcing the constitutional mandate of equity and fairness in public sector representation.

In his opening remarks, Rt. Hon. Wase underscored the Commission’s pivotal role in maintaining national unity and cohesion through equitable representation across federal institutions. He urged Hon. Oladele to uphold the values of transparency, diligence, and impartiality, reminding him of the integrity he demonstrated during his service as a Member of the House of Representatives.

> “The Federal Character Commission is a constitutional institution that must reflect the diversity of our nation in all spheres of government. You have the backing of the law—use it to do what is right,” Wase said.

In response, Hon. Oladele expressed gratitude to the Committee for its continued oversight and guidance. He reaffirmed his commitment to the principles of federal character, pledging to ensure fairness and inclusion in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

> “We will work to reflect the rich diversity of Nigeria in our institutions, guided by law and the national interest,” Oladele assured.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen cooperation between the Commission and the Committee to guarantee equity in public appointments and recruitments across the federation.
