The Ondo State Government has dismissed reports alleging structural defects at the ongoing construction site of the new Judiciary Complex in Akure, describing them as false and misleading.
During an inspection on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, said thorough checks confirmed there was no collapse or compromise in any part of the 10-building project.
“We have moved round all the 10 buildings in this project, including the ceremonial court, modular courts A to G, the utility building, and the registry building. There is no structural failure. The workers are doing perfect work,” Olawoye stated.
The Commissioner explained that before construction began, comprehensive soil investigations, reinforcement checks, and quality compliance measures were put in place. He added that tests such as cube, integrity, and balsamatic strength assessments have been conducted regularly without detecting any defects.
With construction now between 45 and 50 percent complete, Olawoye assured that the contractor, consultants, and ministry officials are working together to ensure all stages meet strict quality standards.
The Judiciary Complex — comprising 10 major structures — is expected to greatly enhance judicial operations in the state. The project was officially flagged off by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in December 2024.
