The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, today received a delegation of eminent traditional rulers led by the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, accompanied by his wife, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting was also attended by other prominent monarchs including the Ataoja of Osogbo, the Olu of Ilaro, the Oloro of Oro, the Olusin of Ijora Isin, as well as Prince Akeem Adeyemi, a member of the House of Representatives, several federal lawmakers, and the Coordinating Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the South-West geopolitical zone, DIG Adebowale Williams, fdc.
Addressing the gathering, the IGP emphasized the critical role of traditional institutions in safeguarding communities and promoting national security. He assured the royal fathers of a stronger partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and traditional rulers to ensure grassroots inclusivity, peace, and sustainable development.
In a related engagement, the IGP also hosted the Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Michal Cygan, alongside a high-level delegation from W-B Group, a leading security solutions company in Poland. Discussions focused on an integrated communication platform for the Nigeria Police Force to enhance ICT capacity and advance the fight against crimes and criminality.
IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to professional competence, service delivery, adherence to the rule of law, and the adoption of technology-driven, intelligence-led, and proactive policing strategies.
