President Bola Tinubu Set for Two-Nation Tour to Japan and Brazil

President Bola Tinubu will today, Thursday, August 14, embark on an important diplomatic mission covering two major world economies — Japan and Brazil.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed that the trip will begin with a brief stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) before the President proceeds to Japan.

In Japan, Tinubu will attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, scheduled from August 20 to 22, 2025. The conference will bring together African leaders, Japanese government officials, and international stakeholders to explore ways of deepening cooperation in trade, technology, and sustainable development.

Following the conclusion of TICAD9, the Nigerian President will head to Brasilia, capital of the Federative Republic of Brazil, for a two-day state visit from Sunday, August 24, to Monday, August 25, 2025. This visit comes at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing economic cooperation, and promoting cultural exchange.

President Tinubu’s multi-nation tour is aimed at boosting Nigeria’s global partnerships and advancing the nation’s diplomatic and economic agenda.
