Decisive intervention by Governor Agbu Kefas has brought an immediate end to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) strike in Taraba State, following his administration’s approval for payment of staff previously listed as “ghost workers.”
The Governor’s swift action resolved lingering wage disputes, prompting the suspension of the industrial action and enabling full resumption of government and institutional activities across the state.
Describing workers as “the engine room of government” and a central pillar in his vision for a progressive Taraba, Governor Kefas said:
“From my first day in office, I made it clear that the dignity of our workforce will be restored and protected. We have ensured regular salary payments, maintained the minimum wage, facilitated promotions, provided training opportunities, and introduced welfare interventions. No legitimate worker in Taraba State will be denied their rightful earnings.”
Since assuming office, Kefas has launched civil service reforms to boost productivity, including capacity-building programmes, improved working conditions, and closer collaboration with labour unions to resolve disputes through dialogue rather than disruption.
He urged workers to reciprocate government’s commitment by rededicating themselves to building a more prosperous, just, and united Taraba.
Governor Kefas’ pro-labour stance and transparent governance approach continue to earn him recognition as a leader dedicated to fairness, accountability, and inclusive development.
