Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has met with India’s Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Sanjay Seth, to advance bilateral defence cooperation between both nations.
The talks, held as part of Dr. Matawalle’s official visit to New Delhi, focused on key areas of collaboration including counter-terrorism, maritime security, hydrography, and defence industry partnerships.
During the meeting, India reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s defence modernisation drive, offering strategic cooperation and technical expertise.
Dr. Matawalle, in turn, extended an invitation to Indian defence industry leaders to explore joint ventures, investment opportunities, and initiatives aimed at boosting Nigeria’s indigenous defence manufacturing capacity.
The Minister emphasised that stronger defence ties with India would enhance Nigeria’s security architecture, bolster regional stability, and unlock economic benefits through technology transfer and local industry growth.
