The Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA) has honoured Prof. Gabriel Akinboye Oluwatosin, Executive Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his exceptional contributions to agricultural development in Lagos State.

The award was presented by LSADA’s Coordinating Director, Mrs. Aderonke Toju-Tubi, during the Authority’s August Monthly Technology Review Meeting (MTRM) on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the LSADA Conference Room.

“This award recognises the positive impact, tireless contributions, and remarkable achievements of IAR&T towards advancing agriculture in Lagos State,” Mrs. Toju-Tubi said.

Dr. Samson Oyewole Olanipekun, Lagos Team Leader for REFILS, accepted the award on Prof. Oluwatosin’s behalf and expressed gratitude, affirming IAR&T’s continued commitment to supporting LSADA in driving sustainable agricultural productivity across the state.

The award presentation followed a review of the Pre-MTRM field monitoring report, a joint initiative between LSADA and IAR&T aimed at assessing farmer performance, productivity, and challenges. Monitoring exercises were conducted across locations in the Western zone, including Dog Centre Command, Igesu, Odo Adamo, and Olorunnisola in Ayobo.

The MTRM brought together LSADA management, unit heads, and component leaders to translate field insights into actionable strategies, with discussions highlighting the importance of structured training, resource management, and consistent follow-up to boost agricultural output and food security.

As part of the knowledge-sharing segment, Engr. (Dr.) Omotosho Adeyinka of IAR&T delivered a technical session on efficient drip irrigation systems, showcasing their role in water optimisation and climate-smart agriculture. Additionally, Mr. Oladapo Kalesanwo from LSADA’s Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation team presented a market analysis report on average retail prices of key food commodities for July and August 2025, providing essential data for farmers and policymakers.
