The First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, marked the 2025 Charity Day with a heartfelt visit to the orphanage under the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Birnin Kebbi. During the visit, she reinforced her commitment to the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children across the state, urging them to focus on their education and for older children to set positive examples for their younger peers.

As part of her visit, Hajiya Idris donated assorted food items, soft drinks, juices, medical first aid supplies, and cash to the children, aimed at celebrating the Charity Day while improving their living conditions. She assured the orphans of the state administration’s continued support to enhance their welfare and prepare them to become responsible future leaders.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Halimat Hassan Kamba, praised the First Lady’s ongoing initiatives and highlighted the state’s efforts in providing educational sponsorships for orphans both within and outside Kebbi State. She noted that some beneficiaries have graduated and are currently serving as NYSC corps members, while others have been trained in vocational skills to ensure self-reliance. The Commissioner further commended the state government under Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu for increasing the monthly feeding allowance from N240,000 to N2.5 million and for granting automatic employment to all casual workers within the ministry.

The Charity Day visit underscores the administration’s commitment to nurturing the state’s most vulnerable, ensuring their well-being, and empowering them for a brighter future.
