The First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has praised Dr. Monsur Isa, Chairman of Dandi Local Government Area, for his notable achievements and comprehensive empowerment initiatives across the local government. The commendation came during the celebration of his one-year anniversary in office as Executive Chairman.
Hajiya Zainab highlighted Dr. Isa’s commitment to community development and encouraged other local government leaders to draw inspiration from his efforts. Within his first year, Dr. Isa’s administration has implemented projects and empowerment programs that include:
-
Distribution of substantial cash grants to beneficiaries to support business start-ups and financial independence
-
Provision of vehicles and motorcycles to support entrepreneurship and transportation needs
-
Recruitment of 120 youths into the health and education sectors
-
Appointment of 122 special assistants to aid administrative efficiency
-
Installation of solar-powered street lights to enhance security and community aesthetics
-
Renovation of culverts to improve infrastructure and facilitate trade
-
Upgrading the local government chairman’s office
-
Construction of a new public school in Buma to increase access to quality education
The First Lady noted that these initiatives complement the state government’s broader efforts under Governor Nasir Idris to foster self-reliance and community growth. She urged beneficiaries to make the most of the support provided, improve their livelihoods, and support their families.
She also advised the people to avoid political manipulation, emphasizing informed decision-making for community development. “Let us make choices that benefit our communities and promote progress,” she said, while also encouraging citizens to participate in the INEC voter registration exercise and collect their voter cards.
Dr. Monsur Isa described the projects as the beginning of a broader program aimed at boosting youth employment and economic growth in Dandi LGA. He assured the First Lady of the community’s political support for the current administration in 2027 and disclosed that the remaining opposition party in his area has joined the APC. He also noted that 95% of residents have obtained their voter cards.
Goodwill messages were delivered by two commissioners from the area—Hajia Halima Hassan Kamba (Women Affairs) and Hon. Bala Fingila (Youth and Sports)—who both pledged continued support for the administration.
