Toro LGA Advocates Skill Training for Retirees Under Bauchi Pension Scheme

In a move aimed at enhancing post-retirement productivity, the Education Secretary of Toro Local Government Area, Hajia Zainab Narabi, has called for the inclusion of skill acquisition programs in the Bauchi State Contributory Pension Scheme.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Toro LGA, Hon. Permacist Ibrahim Abubakar Dembo, during a sensitization event organized by the Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission, Hajia Zainab emphasized the importance of equipping retirees with practical skills in areas such as agriculture, small business management, and crafts. She noted that this would help retirees make informed investments with their pension funds and maintain financial independence after service.

Malam Adamu Nuhu, Director of Finance for Toro LGA, described the Contributory Pension Scheme as a model reflecting global best practices, praising its forward-looking approach. He assured that Toro Local Government staff are committed to supporting the scheme to ensure long-term workforce security.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa, endorsed the idea of integrating skill acquisition into the pension framework, calling it a timely and strategic initiative. He reaffirmed Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration’s commitment to retirees’ welfare and noted that the Commission is open to policy adjustments and strategic partnerships to implement the program effectively.
