Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has lauded the Tinubu administration for ending career stagnation and improving welfare across Nigeria’s para-military services. The Minister made these remarks during a ceremony to decorate a new set of Deputy Controllers, Comptrollers, and Commandants-General under the Ministry of Interior.

Highlighting the progress made since the administration took office two years ago, the Minister noted that incoming officers often faced demoralization due to stalled careers and inadequate welfare packages. “We knew it was not only dangerous but counter-productive to continue that trend,” he said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to human capital development and personnel welfare.

The ceremony marks the third time in two years that the Ministry has decorated officers, with over 50,000 personnel promoted since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inauguration. Tunji-Ojo encouraged the newly decorated officers to redouble their efforts in serving the nation, supporting their Commandants-General in building stronger, more effective institutions.

Making history, the Federal Fire Service produced its first-ever female Deputy Controller General, a milestone reflecting the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and gender equality in leadership positions within Nigeria’s para-military services.

The Minister described the promotions as a paradigm shift that celebrates excellence, dedication, and the vital contributions of personnel to national security and institutional growth.
