The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, has arraigned Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu and his company, Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, on a 13-count charge of theft, before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Oguibe is accused of stealing a total of N200 million while serving as an accountant for Travelstar Web Logistics Limited. The charges allege that he, acting as the alter ego of his company, dishonestly converted funds entrusted to him for personal use.
One of the counts reads:
“That you, Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu, being the alter ego of Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited and Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, being a company incorporated in Nigeria sometime in March 2020, dishonestly converted to your own use the sum of $36,000 (Thirty-Six Thousand United States Dollars), property of Travelstar Web Logistics Limited, thereby committing an offence contrary to Sections 280(1)(b), 280(2)(f), and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
Another count states:
“That you, Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu, being the alter ego of Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, dishonestly converted the sum of $156,000 (One Hundred and Fifty-Six Thousand United States Dollars), property of Travelstar Web Logistics Limited, while serving as its accountant, thereby committing an offence contrary to Sections 280(1)(b), 280(2)(f), and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
When the charges were read to him, Oguibe pleaded “not guilty.”
Following the plea, prosecution counsel, A.A. Usman, requested a trial date for the prosecution to open its case and also prayed that the defendant be remanded in a Correctional Centre.
Defence counsel, Kelvin C. Uzozie, informed the court of a pending bail application and requested that Oguibe be remanded in EFCC custody.
After hearing both parties, Justice Oshodi adjourned proceedings to October 17, 2025, for the hearing of the bail application, and ordered that Oguibe be remanded at the Correctional Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos.
The report is based on court proceedings at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, and official statements from the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2.
